Russian characters, recognized properly
The full Cyrillic alphabet is recognized, including ё and й, and so are other Cyrillic languages such as Ukrainian and Bulgarian.
Handwritten Russian is recognized too, alongside printed text on the same page. Neat block letters come out best; hurried cursive is less reliable.
No language setting needed
You don't pick a language. The OCR detects it on each page, so a folder of Russian files and English files can go in the same batch.
Pages that mix Russian and English, such as contracts with foreign partners, are read in one pass without choosing a language.
Searching Russian text in the result
Several Cyrillic letters look exactly like Latin ones (а, е, о, р, с). In a page that mixes both scripts, a word can occasionally be read with the wrong one, so if a search fails, try a shorter part of the word.
