Arabic characters, recognized properly
The OCR reads Arabic script in its connected forms, along with Eastern Arabic numerals (٠١٢٣) and the Western digits common in invoices and forms.
Handwritten Arabic is recognized too, alongside printed text on the same page. Neat block letters come out best; hurried cursive is less reliable.
No language setting needed
You don't pick a language. The OCR detects it on each page, so a folder of Arabic files and English files can go in the same batch.
Arabic paperwork often mixes Arabic and English, sometimes French. The OCR reads them on the same page without you choosing a language.
Searching Arabic text in the result
PDF viewers vary in how they handle right-to-left text. Search works in most of them, but when copying a line that mixes Arabic with numbers or English, the order can come out differently in some viewers. If it does, try another viewer.
Arabic documents people convert
- Invoices (فواتير) and receipts
- Contracts (عقود) and leases
- Government and court documents
- Certificates and IDs on file
- Forms filled in by hand
Older and harder documents
Clear printed pages work best. Decorative calligraphic styles, faint photocopies and low-resolution scans cause most errors, so scan at 300 dpi where you can.
If a file already has a text layer, it is returned unchanged. Tick Force OCR to replace a poor existing text layer; see how Force OCR works.
