# GetSearchablePDF

> GetSearchablePDF turns scanned PDFs and images into searchable PDFs: upload a scan or a photo of a document and get back a PDF you can search with Ctrl+F and copy text from. Works on getsearchablepdf.com and inside ChatGPT and Claude.

The result is a new PDF that looks like the original page but has selectable, searchable text; the original file is left unchanged. It recognizes printed and handwritten text in 100+ languages, and most documents are ready in under 30 seconds.

## What you can do

- Convert scanned PDFs and JPG or PNG images; images become one-page searchable PDFs.
- Upload several files at once and download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
- Use Force OCR to redo a PDF whose existing text layer is wrong or garbled.
- Use it from ChatGPT or Claude: attach a scanned PDF or a photo and ask "Make this PDF searchable." A panel shows progress and then a Download button. Pages that already have text are left as they are and cost nothing.

## Plans

Pricing is per page. Every account starts with 10 free pages that expire after 7 days; no credit card required.

- **Starter:** US$9 a month, 250 pages a month, files up to 50 MB and 100 pages.
- **Pro:** US$29 a month, 1,000 pages a month, files up to 250 MB and 800 pages.
- **Business:** US$59 a month, 3,000 pages a month, files up to 400 MB and 1,500 pages.
- **One-off packs, no subscription needed:** 250 pages for US$14.99 or 1,000 pages for US$39.99. Pack pages never expire and work on any plan; while you have pack pages, files can be as large as on Business.
- Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime. For volumes above Business, email getsearchablepdf@gmail.com.
- ChatGPT and Claude use the same page balance as the website. There, files are capped at 50 MB and 300 pages for now, up to 10 files at a time.

## Your files

- Uploaded files and their searchable versions are deleted automatically within one hour.
- Your documents are never used for training.
- Files are transferred over encrypted connections.

## Using it in ChatGPT and Claude

- **ChatGPT:** add GetSearchablePDF from the ChatGPT app directory, select Connect and sign in to (or create) your GetSearchablePDF account.
- **Claude:** add GetSearchablePDF from the Claude directory (Customize → Plugins), select Connect and sign in. To let Claude send an attached file itself, allow `mcp.getsearchablepdf.com` under Settings → Capabilities → Code execution and file creation → Network access.
- **Claude Code:** `claude plugin marketplace add superdocsio/getsearchablepdf-claude-plugin`, then `claude plugin install getsearchablepdf@getsearchablepdf`.
- **Other MCP clients:** connect `https://mcp.getsearchablepdf.com/mcp`.
